Candylab Cars Guide: Series, Sizes and Our Favourite Models

Most of us remember evenings on the floor with a few toy cars and a lot of imagination. Candylab makes wooden cars for exactly that kind of play: no batteries, no screens, just a well-made car and a child in charge of the story and the sound effects.

Candylab started as a small Brooklyn team of designers, engineers and parents, and its cars are simplified but recognisable takes on vintage American and European vehicles. This guide covers the two series, our customers' favourite models, sizes, and how to keep a growing collection tidy.

The Two Candylab Series

Candylab cars come in two sizes, which is the first thing to decide:

• Americana series — the original, larger cars, around 16–19 cm long. Muscle cars, 4x4s, cruisers and pick-ups, many with magnetic accessories like surfboards and canoes.
• Candycars — the newer, smaller series, around 8–14 cm long. Vans, RVs, food trucks, buses and trailers that can be combined into a little town.

Big Sur 4x4

A classic adventure 4x4 with vintage details, in brown or green. Built to carry a small cargo (the canoe is sold separately). Recommended for ages 3+.

Cotswold

An elegant, rugged estate car in gold or blue that comes with a magnetic surfboard and tow hook. Looks as good on a shelf as it does on the floor.

Pink Cruiser

The statement car of the range: a bright pink cruiser in solid beech wood with water-based paint.

Police Cruiser

School Bus and the Candycars range

The big yellow School Bus leads the smaller Candycars series, alongside vans, RVs like the Yosemite RV, mules like the Rio Grande, and small cars like B. Berry. Add an Airstream trailer to any Candycar for a road trip.

Why Wooden Toy Cars?

Candylab cars are made from solid beech wood with water-based paint. There are no batteries or electronics, which leaves room for imaginative play: children invent the journey, the obstacles and the engine noise. Pushing, steering and parking also practise fine motor skills. And because they're built to last, many end up displayed on a shelf long after playtime.
