How to Wash Jellycat Toys 101: Step-by-Step Guide
If you have a Jellycat, you know how soft and cuddly they are. After a while, though, they get dirty and need a clean. With the right method it's simple, and your plush will look and feel like new.
Always read the care label first. It tells you the method that's right for that toy.
What You'll Need
- Lukewarm water (hot water can damage the fabric)
- A mild detergent, such as a gentle laundry liquid or baby shampoo, free of dyes and fragrances
- A soft cloth or soft-bristled brush
- A clean towel
Avoid harsh detergents, bleach and fabric softener, which can damage the fabric and colour.
How to Wash a Jellycat
- Remove any accessories such as outfits or bows, and clean them separately.
- Spot clean first. For small marks, dab with a damp cloth and a little mild detergent.
- Hand wash if needed. Gently wash in lukewarm water with mild detergent, without scrubbing.
- Rinse in clean lukewarm water.
- Squeeze out excess water gently (don't wring), and reshape.
- Air dry flat on a clean towel or hanging, away from direct heat.
Note: unless the label says otherwise, don't machine wash or tumble dry a Jellycat, as this can damage the fabric and stuffing.
